Plastics Decorating - January/February 2008 - (Page 25) ASSOCIATION NEWS Topical Conference 2008 - Program Close to Complete The program and papers are very close to completion for the upcoming SPE Decorating & Assembly Division Topical Conference (TopCon) that will take place June 10 – 11, 2008, in Dearborn, Mich. The TopCon will begin Tuesday, June 10th with a full morning of technical papers, followed by an extended lunch with supplier tabletop exhibits. The afternoon will include another session of technical papers and then the tabletop exhibits will continue with a networking Supplier Trade Fair that will extend through the evening with hors d’oeuvres and drinks. The conference will conclude with a session of papers the following morning on Wednesday, June 11th. “We are extremely excited about the papers that already have been compiled for this year’s TopCon,” stated Program Chair Paul Uglum, Delphi. Subjects that will be covered include Advances in Painting System Design, Paint and Laser Applications, New UV Hard Coat Systems for Plastics, Infrared Energy for Plastic Staking, Digital UV DOD Inkjet, Dot Matrix Laser Marking, In-mold Decorating Technologies, and much more. ANTEC Papers Set for Decorating & Assembly Division Once again, the SPE Decorating & Assembly Division will sponsor a full session of papers on emerging decorating and assembly technologies at ANTEC this May. Letter from the Chairman From the Society of Plastics Engineers, I would like to wish everyone a Happy and Prosperous New Year. 2008 should be an excellent year for both the SPE and the Decorating & Assembly Division. Plans for the SPE Decorating & Assembly Division’s Topical Conference (TopCon) at the Hyatt Regency in Dearborn, Mich., June 10 and 11, are being finalized and I am proud to announce that this conference promises to be a breakthrough event for our technologies. We have assembled a broad range of technical papers from the foremost authorities on decorating and assembly in the industry – we expect close to 150 attendees at this event. The Decorating & Assembly Division also will participate with papers at ANTEC in Milwaukee, Wis., May 4 - 8, and will present one day of papers (Sept. 20th) at the Thermoforming Conference in Minneapolis, Minn. These are very exciting events. Given the strength of the upcoming agenda, the SPE and particularly the Decorating & Assembly Division are headed for a very successful year.
