Plastics Decorating - January/February 2008 - (Page 44) PRODUCT DEVELOPMENTS continued from page 43 to 1.5″ for such three-dimensional plastic parts as air conditioning and radio dials in cars. MTG-FORM and MTG-NF™ enable high-tech automotive manufacturers to avoid the expensive and burdensome use of nitrogen-curing products. MTG also offers excellent mar and scuff resistance and outdoor durability. Both MTG sets can be used as stand-alone hard coats or can be blended to alter the desired finish, and are available in matte, gloss, or texture clear finishes. OMSO North America Unveils OMSO North America Inc., Erlanger, Ky., introduces the OMSO Axial, offering 360° screenprinting on symmetrical ovals in up to 6-color screen. The Axial is a niche machine for customers with large volumes of difficult ovals, but it will run standard cylinders as well. The OMSO Servotube 137 offers flexography, silkscreen, and hot stamp in any combination. The modular concept allows printing in up to eight colors for flexible tubes. High speeds, tight registration tolerances, and short changeover times on the Servotube allow users to be more flexible with high-resolution graphics on shorter runs. OMSO also offers the machine model Ecovision for automated high-resolution color inspection in-line with any machine in its fleet, enabling customers to verify the quality of print in-line prior to it being packed out by robotic automation equipment. Pad Print Machinery Presents Infrared Conveyor Dryer Pad Print Machinery of Vermont, East Dorset, Vt., introduces the PP1860-W-1 pad print conveyor dryer, an infrared dryer that conveys pad printed parts through a drying chamber for post-treatment. The dryer offers high-speed, in-line printing customers the finishing touch on a seamless secondary manufacturing process that includes pad printing for parts marking and product decorating. The dryer’s conveyor belt is 18″ wide with a 6″ clearance inside the chamber. The drying chamber is 30″ long, and the overall conveyor length is 60″. The temperature at the face of the heating element reaches 700°F, and at belt level the temperature is approximately 300°F. The element is adjustable in height and can be lowered to increase the surface temperature of the printed part to more than 300°F. The unit comes with adjustable heat shields at both ends of the drying chamber and a speed-control dial for the conveyor belt. American’s AM-180 Synchronizes Cylinder Rotation with Screen Movement American M&M, Chicago, Ill., presents the AM-180 universal screenprinter for high-quality imprinting of bottles and a variety of cylindrical objects. The compact and easy-to-use AM-180 accepts hundreds of tooling attachments to print on virtually any 3-D object. The universal screenprinter handles oval, conical, and cylindrical surfaces, and prints on everything from bottles to buckets, including flat substrates. A key feature of the AM-180 synchronizes the rotation of the object with the screen’s movement to produce a clean image in exact registration. To ensure the best possible image, the print stroke has a sharp cutoff to prevent the squeegee from coasting into the next print cycle. The AM-180 can deliver up to 1,200 IPH, accepts cylindrical objects up to 6″ in diameter, and has a variable-speed drive powered by a DC motor.
