Then my hospital bed began to roll swiftly down the hallway and into the operating room. I was still in disbelief that me “macho man” was about to undergo open-heart bypass surgery. It’s events like this that provoke 20 awareness of things that are meaningful in life. Like the commercial on TV says, “Life comes at you fast.” It seemed that in an instant, I was considering if I approved of my own legacy. I had thoughts of the things that I might want to change or even if I would have the time to change them. Hours later I awoke to a world of technology and pain, neither of which I was prepared for.
