maybe not. She again said I needed to talk to Billy. Before I left I told Jeff if he heard anything he should call me. He started to say something but then said, “If I can put something together, I’ll call you.” I then asked if he had cut up any deer over the past weekend and he said no, but that he had stayed at Billy’s on Saturday night for a Christmas party. At that point I called Billy. He admitted to taking the deer and cutting them up, but said he put all the parts out with his garbage. I asked about the tags from his brother Marty’s deer and his nephew Jeff’s deer. Billy said they were with the meat, because Marty wanted him to be able to show whose deer they were. I then asked when he had cut up the deer and who helped him. He replied that he and his nephew’s friend, Jimmy, did on Monday, Dec. 8. I asked if Jeff was there, and he said no. I then asked when he last saw his nephew, and if he had hunted with him. Billy said that he and Jeff had hunted on Friday, behind his

house, but that they didn’t get anything. He went on to say that Jeff missed a buck earlier in the week, but that was it. When I asked if he had cut up any deer over the weekend Billy replied no, but with hesitation. I then asked if Jeff had visited him over the past weekend, and Billy said that he did, that they went to his aunt’s house for a Christmas party. Jeff did stay overnight and went home early with his sister, Samantha, the next morning. I asked how Jeff got home and Billy said a friend took them. I then asked where he was the previous morning, after Jeff left, and he said he took his kids to Mercer then. I asked what road he took and he said Route 58, through Grove City to Mercer (Filer Road is just off Rt. 58). I asked if he took any detours off Route 58 and he said no. At that point, Billy said, “Look, man, I didn’t do anything wrong and don’t know nothing about any dumped deer.” I told Billy that someone does, and that he needs to think about things and call me if he remembers anything. I called Jeff back and talked to his mother. Pamela said that she had just talked to Billy and that he said Jimmy had just admitted to dumping the deer. I asked how to contact Jimmy, and she said to ask Billy. On my way back to Billy’s I picked up Deputy Terry McClelland to give me a hand. At Billy’s I asked about Jimmy, and Billy said he had just talked to him, and that Jimmy admitted to dumping the deer when he borrowed his truck the day before. I asked him just what deer Jimmy dumped, because the ones dumped were not ones cut up on December 8, that they were three other deer. Billy paused and then said one, a doe, was his friend’s, TJ. “TJ who?” I asked, and he said he didn’t know. “You hunt with a
