Allegheny — Earlier this year I responded to a couple of incidents over a 2-week  period  involving  two  bucks  with  their  antlers caught in a backyard hammock and  then a rope swing. The first buck had its  8-point rack caught in a hammock in Ross  Township. With the help of Officer Jordan  Seese we were able to tie up the buck and  saw off the antlers to free him. I informed  the local TV station during my interview  about my concern for being kicked during  the  operation.  Deputy  Ryan  Miller  was  quick to inform me that deer don’t kick,  based on his experience with live trapping.  The  next  week  we  had  another  8-point  with its antlers caught. With the help of  Deputy Jim Henkemeyer we were able to  secure the buck and release him again by  sawing off his antlers. This buck gave me a  good kick in the thigh and I had a welt for  a week to prove it, Officer Miller. — WCO gary M. Fujak, COraOpOLis

Mercer — Deputy  Terry  McClelland  was the victim of a nasty fall from the roof  of a new addition he was building at his  home. The fall resulted in a broken pelvis  and back. After only six weeks of recovery  Terry  is  back  on  his  feet  and  way  ahead  of what his doctors expected. During his  recovery at home his focus was still on his  deputy work, doing whatever he could to  contribute to the district. Even though he  has a few weeks until he is cleared for full  duty status, Terry shows the same dedication and commitment as he did when he  started his career with the Game Commission back in 1968. — WCO LaWrenCe r. HergenrOeder, grOve City

Can’t Keep a Good Man Down
