The installation of our Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system is complete. After a successful pilot phase, we deployed this system to our entire WCO force. This system has also been installed in the dispatch centers located in the region ofﬁces. The CAD system makes it easier for dispatchers to communicate incident information to ofﬁcers and provides the agency with a mechanism to track incident status and processing. The communications mechanism used by the CAD system also allows ﬁeld ofﬁcers to use other automated functions provided by the agency, and affords an additional level of security. This year the Bureau of Automated Technology Services (BATS), in conjunction with the Commission’s Bureau of Wildlife Habitat Management, moved forward with our Geographic Information Systems (GIS) initiative to integrate our spatial land data with our non-spatial data that pertains to structures and activities performed on our lands. GeoDecisions was hired to develop with this integrated system, code-named Spatial Integration Management System (SIMS), which will give the Commission greater ﬂexibility in managing our resources and provide better service to our constituents. SIMS is expected to go into production May, 2013. During the 2011-12 ﬁscal year, BATS began its initiative to decommission our aging and expensive mainframe computer. With the aid of the Governor’s Office of Administration/Ofﬁce of Information Technology, the Commission enlisted several contract developers and began this grueling process. The target date to have all of our application programs converted to a web-enabled computing platform is June 2014.
