Editors' Picks My favorite all-time Game News cover is "Grandpa's Woolrich" by Bob Sopchick that graced the October 1993 issue. My wife Debbie, who is a huge fan of Halloween, liked it so much that it's the only art print we have hanging in our house. It fits our "log-home" décor and hangs right below my bull elk shoulder mount in our great room. The artist did a "remark" illustration on the print that makes it that much more special - a one-of-a-kind - and Debbie still claims it's one of the best Christmas gifts I've ever got her. - Bob D'Angelo Nobody paints a buck like Ned Smith, and "Suspicious" from the December 1978 cover is about as realistic as it gets. I've seen this look too many times while deer hunting, and I never recall it ending well. - Travis Lau If you've hunted a snow like the one in Ned Smith's "December Snow," you can appreciate the calmness this painting presents. It appeared on the December 1981 cover. The bedded big buck is that situation we all hope to still hunt into as we sneak into the wind along that lonely bench before the top on the mountain's north slope after everyone else has gone home. - Joe Kosack AUGUST 2015 21
