2017 Hunter-Trapper Education Instructor of the Year G LEN SPICKLER has been a Hunter-Trapper Education Instructor for 33 years and, in that time, he has introduced several thousand students to Pennsylvania's hunting and trapping heritage. He routinely is the lead instructor at several course locations within the district, and organizes and conducts classes with perfection. He is wellliked by his fellow instructors and students. His extensive hunting and firearms experience is instrumental in his success in presenting that knowledge to the students. Glen is active in the Lititz Sportsmen's Association as the financial secretary, and is a member of the Cooper's Hill Shooting Club. He organizes and routinely takes the lead in conducting HTE courses at both locations. My district historically has had an active HTE program, but it had been lacking a Skills Station class. At the workshop this past year, I requested a Skills Station be offered and Glen immediately stepped up to organize and conduct the first-ever Skills Station class in the district. It was a huge success. Glen Spickler is an exceptional instructor who is dedicated to the HTE program and the Game Commission. He demonstrates the ideal knowledge and leadership that hunters and trappers recognize, and is truly deserving of the Southeast Region Instructor of the Year. Glen Spickler nominated by Game Warden Gregory L. Graham Lancaster County For information on becoming an HTE instructor, please visit www.pgc.pa.gov or call 717-787-7015.
