Sand Addiction - August 2007 - (Page 26) Banshee Wars & 4-Stroke Wars The Ultimate Race Weekend Dumont Dunes was a one-stop-shop for quad racers the weekend after President’s Day. Racers from multiple states came to participate in “Banshee Wars V” and “4-Stroke Challenge Series Race 2.” Although the two events were totally separate from each other, they overtook the hills in Comp Valley and drew quite the crowd. Saturday, Banshee Wars overtook Banshee Hill. The crowd was out and in force where it was hard for the long subframed bikes to turn around. Celebrity Puck from The Real World manned the microphone while the big names from the ATV world came to race, including K&T, Podos, Inland ATV’s, Rub Dub, Tiger Racing, and many more. By: Charlene Bower The racing was intense and consistent, running into the dark of night. But the bike of the day was certainly K&T’s 4mm. It was by far the fastest bike there with the exception of K&T’s 18mm and gorgeous red triple-cylinder. When everything was said and done, it was K&T that prevailed that day! The cold February night was nice enough for camp fires and group gatherings. As night broke into day, the wind picked up and started to rattle the trailers— and the grand plans of the 4-Stroke Challenge staff. The 4-Stroke Challenge Series (4SCS) Race 2 took place Sunday on Razorback Hill. The 4SCS is a group of enthusiasts that are trying to take ATV racing to the next level on the West Coast. They have brought innovation, tech equipment, and organization to the hill. They have dropped quite a bit of money into this project, including purchasing a true light tree and timing equipment. With the racing being on Sunday and the wind still singing its song, the crowd was a bit lighter, but there were still quite a few people lining the edges of the fenced-off drag strip. The 4-strokes barreled up the hill with some of the leaders being from the Rocket 26 www.sandaddiction.com http://www.sandaddiction.com
