So you have one of those ATC 70s in the backyard? Pull it out and fix it up. These things are fun! ATC 70’s – From the Backyard to Bling By Charlene Bower Okay, let’s work on getting it running first. These are very simple bikes, so there are only a few key items to check. Take out the air filter and make sure that it is clean. More than likely it will deteriorate in your hand, but don’t worry. There are replacement foam filters available. Throw in a new spark plug and check the spark plug cap to see if it will still make a spark. motorcycle shop; it cleans and then lines metal tanks to put them back in working order. Do not use this product on a painted tank; do it as part of your prep work and then paint the tank. While you have the tank off, pull out the carb and do some serious cleaning with a lot of carb cleaner! Put it back together with some new fuel line and some new gas and your fuel system should be ready. If the bike has been sitting for any length of time, the fuel system is probably clogged. The tank is metal so, more than likely, there is a lot of rust in it. Do not clean it with water; this will only make it worse. If it is in need of cleaning, there is a great product called Kreem that you can pick up at your local 94 www.sandaddiction.com The challenge with these little bikes is getting some of the parts that are now out of production. The points and pull-starter pulley may cause you some problems. If you cannot find replacement parts, the points can be very carefully sanded and the pulley can be rewound. Also, check the rear axle bearings, seals, and make sure that the rubber sprocket grommets are not rotted. The drive chain should also be checked for flexibility. Want to take it to the next step?
