SideXSide Action - November 2007 - (Page 86) PROJECT RACE RHINO Chapter 3 By Mike Lasher t’s the beginning of August and by the time you read this, the race will be over and hopefully we made it to the finish line. The deadline is rapidly approaching and there is still a lot of work to be done on the car. As we enter Part 3 of the Rhino build, I’m not sure what the best way to describe this section is… I guess this would be the part of the build where a lot of work is done that is very important but doesn’t show like there was anything done. In this section we had all the plumbing done, the seat belt mounts created, the gear one steering box installed, built an air tunnel to cool the motor, built a custom exhaust to help vent the CVT, and we did some aluminum work to help keep the riders inside and the elements out. It is looking more and more promising to making the starting line at the Vegas to Reno Race in August. I Photos Bones Flynn & Matt Lasher 1 2 86 1: Here you can see the seatbelt mount for the driver’s side. We opted for clip-in belts so that, in the event of a belt change, it wouldn’t take as long to remove the seat belts. 3 2: This is where the steering wheel mounts to the dash. You want to make sure you have at least two heim joints in one of the sections of the linkage to keep the steering wheel stable. 3: In this photo there are a couple of key things to note. You can see the linkage going from the steering wheel to our Gear One replacement rack and you can also see our Walker Evans Shocks with Eibach springs. www.sidexsideaction.com http://www.sidexsideaction.com
