SideXSide Action - January 2008 - (Page 27) DE X SIDE ACTION ADVENTURES dusty with a little bit of rock sticking out of the trail from time-to-time. It was also a mild switchback trail that leads into the mountain. Right off the bat, the engine on the Rhino started to overheat as we started the incline. We looked it over and found that the water in the radiator was low. So, after giving it a couple water bottles, we started back up again. After only 10 minutes, the temperature light was back on and the Rhino was overheating. The radiator itself was cool to the touch so the water was not cycling through the motor. We opened up the bed of the Rhino, removed the seats, did some troubleshooting, and found that the water return line from the engine to the radia- tor was disconnected. After some quick trail repair, we were back on the trail with no more overheating issues. SIDE X SIDE ACTION ADVENTURES We got into the town of Cawood, KY around lunchtime and stopped at the gas station for a couple gallons of gas and some lunch. Cawood was the home of legendary University of Kentucky basketball/football announcer Cawood Ledford, whose widow still lives in town. In fact, we passed their estate as we drove into Cawood and it’s quite a sight. The gas station where we ate was no Sizzler, but it did have all the essential “Little Debbie” snacks, drinks, chips, and even a pizza and hamburger station to gorge ourselves for a 1,000 + calorie lunch, the only way to feast for a long day on the trail. After refueling our machines and bodies, we got back onto a paved road and headed out toward Martin’s Fork Lake. The trail we took out to the lake was a mix of on-road driving and off-road, but it was wide enough for a truck and nothing too extreme. When we got to the lake, our trail leader Ed Begley’s daughter, Amanda, took the Rhino for a little swim. Another member from our crew, Donnie Winkler, took his Prowler out for a quick bath in the waist-high water of the lake. We stopped at a peninsula on the lake which stretches out about 80 yards before dropping off WWW.SIDEXSIDEACTION.COM SIDE X SIDE ACTION ADVENTURES SIDE X SIDE ACTION ADVENTURES 27 SIDE http://WWW.SIDEXSIDEACTION.COM
