As groups of friends from Moab reunited, others sat at tables and became part of the Black Hills group. The morning consisted of quite a lineup of important speakers. M By Charlene Bower Hills area is lined with trails that are very diverse, from wide fire roads to rocky and rooty trails, to single track (How did we get there?) to tight but negotiable trails. In the provided Events Guide were different maps showing miles and miles of trails that could take you in a loop or to a destination. Two of the destination spots were the Nemo Guest Ranch and the Sugar Shack where you could stop for some great food and refreshing drinks. (Sorry, but you will have to wait until the next issue to hear about all of adventures out on the trails) ount Rushmore, Sturgis, Deadwood, and other tourist destinations surround Grand Rapids, South Dakota and are wrapped into the Black Hills area. An area that is known for its vast array of rallies certainly should have a UTV rally…and so over Labor Day Weekend the first annual Black Hills UTV Rally came to life. event with the help of sponsors from leaders in the industry. The three days were packed with activities and rides that kept everyone busy. It was a perfect follow-up to the First Annual Moab UTV Rally. After our introduction, we were off to the trails! The Black Back at the Rally Park during the day, we got to hang out and talk to all kinds of great people about Side X Sides. DJ Riley kept the people walking and talking. Yamaha and Arctic Cat were there with their factory semis and were offering demo rides to all who were interested. Yamaha was taking people out on about a ½ hour trail ride to demo the 450 Rhino while Arctic Cat set up an aggressive obstacle course where they let people test the ability of the Prowlers.
