SideXSide Action - February 2008 - (Page 45) {Product} Reviews SXS Products Max Air Cold Air Intake Max Air’s Cold Air Intake system is constructed of durable 16gage material and designed to pull fresh air from the top of the cowl as opposed to all stock and aftermarket intakes, which pull hot air and debris from the engine compartment. In addition, Max Air has incorporated an anti-siphon crankcase breather system that allows the crankcase to breath into the side of the air box. Because of this unique design, Max Air has eliminated the need for a crank case breather filter and this also eliminates the problem of oil splatter in the engine compartment. The K&N air filter is easily accessible simply by removing the lid for fast and easy cleaning! Installation was fairly simple and takes about forty five minutes to an hour. The Max Air intake kit not only lets more air flow into your filter but also raises your air filter for those who like to take their machines for a dip. The Low Down: Plus: The box comes up higher so it can get in the way on a fast paced ride. It would be nice to have a cushion on top of the box to really make it an arm rest. Minus: Having the air intake higher is great for extreme mud riding and water crossings. Our thoughts: Edge Cameras www.maxairproducts.com Contact (602) 722-6303; EC-1000 Digital Video $549.99 The "EC-1000" is a complete turn-key recording system. It features a mini DVR encased in a crushproof, water-resistant enclosure. The DVR records at 640x480 resolution at 30fps (frames-per-second), which is perfect for making DVDs or just plugging directly into your TV. The included 1 gigabyte memory card allows the system to record for approximately 1.5 hours. However, the DVR is compatible with up to a 2 gigabyte card. A simple system that adds a new level to capturing your adventures on film. The recorder is small and compact so storage is not a problem. The video quality is good, but if you’re looking for audio make sure you strategically place the recorder to maximize the audio. Make sure that the recorder is set to record on the memory card and not the internal memory. Otherwise, you will miss part of your adventure because the internal memory is not that big. The Low Down: Our thoughts: Plus: Easy to use and easy to mount. The recorder will plug directly into your TV so you can watch your videos right away. The charging cable and the camera cable use the same type of plug so they can be confused if you don’t pay attention to the labels.
