SideXSide Action - March 2008 - (Page 39) Description: Double Soft Ride Fin Grip w/Multi-mount base. { MAD DOG Includes both base mounting kit systems for pro handlebar and the Multi Mount for all racks. OUR REVIEW The 15° Multi Mount base is strongest on flat surfaces with the Equapress™ compression plate where the base load can be spread out over an area. New premier grip over mold has double cushion sidewall to protect your cargo. New claw grip that is located at the opening, secures your tools from coming out on rough terrain RON’S REVIEW This system is for active users who need maximum mounting positions and angles. The bottom-mounting bracket will work with smaller tubing, like a front rack system. The base mounts with a 15-degree spline on an Equapress compression plate. The claw grip also mounts to the base with a 15-degree spline system. You can mount both grips, or just use the bottom bracket with one fin grip mount to use as a single holder. Very universal. This is another good system, it’s a multiple stage system where I can mount it on a bar or a flat mount. It seems to be well built and is wide enough to fit a good size bow or tools, along with my guns. The little claw grip at the top is a nice touch; the fins are a little spread out and there is also another cushion behind the fins that protect the gun more on impacts. The engineers really took some time on this system to make it a universal kit with plenty of different mounting rotations. It features double soft rubber fin grips, which can carry shovels, guns, bows, fishing poles, and much more. It also includes two hooks for hanging additional gear along with a cargo light. OUR REVIEW RON’S REVIEW Cycle Country’s universal gun rack was a little scary when we first opened the box and saw the plethora of parts, but once we broke the man law and opened up the instruction manual the gravy train set sail. The gun rack system comes with a base, different mounting hardware, and two dual gun holders. Once we saw how we were going to install it onto our Rhino it was smooth sailing and only 20 minutes later the whole kit was installed (minus the brake light). The gun rack also comes with a brake light system with a full wiring kit, but we wanted to focus more on the gun rack itself and how well it worked with guns in it. This is a very sturdy kit, and I like how it can mount on my Ranger XP or this Yamaha Rhino. The mounting was easy and it does not feel like it’s going to move around at all. The grips that hold the guns to the rack base are a little flimsy, and are not my first choice for grips. They do their job but the little rubber tips are not going to hold a gun in without the rubber straps over the cups. Still this system would work really well out on the trail. I would drill out another hole and put a couple of the “V” style gun cups in; that would be a great gun rack right there.
