SCORE 2007 marked the 40th anniversary of the world famous Baja 1000. Ten Side X Sides lined up to tackle this adventure of a lifetime. The Side X Side class in the SCORE series runs all of its races on the Baja Peninsula in Mexico. The shortest race clocks in at 250 miles, while the longest (the famous Baja 1000) tops out at over 1300 miles. In his Yamaha Rhino, Tom Graves was able to stay in the front of the pack at both the 500 and 1000. Although he was not able to get an official finish in either race, he was always in the front of the pack. At the Baja 250, Matt Parks and his Polaris Ranger captured the title of being the first to conquer a Baja race and finished just 40 minutes ahead of Rut Tabcum in second place. www.score-international.com M4SX The M4SX series is a short course series based in southern California that spends its time on motocross-style tracks. The Flying Banana, flown by Todd Arthur of HRT Motorsports, was able to clinch the series win in the fifth round of competition. He was followed closely behind by our own Chad George in his Yamaha Rhino. Chad was able to secure a win in the first round of the series while Todd Arthur took home four wins in rounds 2-6. M4SX race courses are the smallest available to Side X Side racers, so the action was always awesome off of the start line and through the first few turns. M4SX is known for its racers getting big air off of the table-tops at the Lake Elsinore track. www.m4sx.com WPSA The PowerSports ATV Championship Tour promotes ATV racing on both the national and regional level. It features two Series: “QuadMX” and “QuadTerrain.” The Side X Sides compete in the QuadTerrain series. The WPSA features racing on purpose-built all-terrain racing courses. In this series, Kyle Fibelkorn piloted his Arctic Cat Prowler to a championship win, with a third place finish in the final round giving him 144 points for the season. This gave him a three-point lead over second place. With Michael Kneebush of Ohio scoring 141 points in second place, this was the closest battle of the year for a championship title. Dana Creech even made a guest appearance in his Polaris RZR for the final round. www.wpsa.com WORCS The WORCS Series began in 2001 and brought Side X Sides into their races for the first time in 2007. Their race courses challenge every aspect of a rider’s ability, from the fast open deserts of Nevada and Arizona to the technical wooded terrain of Washington and Texas, to the outdoorstyle motocross tracks incorporated into each venue. It was Jeff Stambaug of Kent, WA who started the season with a win and never looked back. He ended up with five wins during the season that brought home the championship. He had an 83-point over second place, which went to Cody Mitchell of Las Vegas, NV.
