SideXSide Action - April 2008 - (Page 71) MAKE: POLARIS MODEL: RANGER XP 700 The Polaris Ranger XP 700 is one of the toughest working sport utility vehicles in its class. For the amount of weight this SXS can hold and haul, it’s still one of the smoothest riding Side X Sides on the market. With a bench seat fit for three people, the Ranger XP makes sharing your adventure a little easier. While some liked the bench seat configuration for its ease of getting in and out, others found it too utility for the speed and suspension this machine offers. The “school bus” style steering wheel setup makes it difficult to steer at high speeds, but makes it easy to get in and out of the machine. The gauge clusters are very easy to read and the controls are easy to reach. Since the XP is capable of speeds of up to 50 MPH, the standard lap belt feels inadequate. However, when it came time to stop the XP, the brakes worked very well, even with a load. The all-wheel-drive was very simple to use and once in all-wheel-drive the XP would go anywhere, with power to spare. This machine is a great sport utility vehicle for someone who needs the three-seat configuration, does some work around their property, and wants to explore moderate to extreme trails. Overview BOX CAPACITY TEST: Nick “400 lbs. made the front end feel a little light, but the power was instant and a nice change from the diesel lag. At the 1,000 lb. max load the XP became difficult to steer uphill.
