Alliance members are eligible to use the FDA Reporting System, a standardized tool that was initiated by The PDMA Alliance. Members have the option of utilizing the easyto-use system to electronically submit reports to the FDA. Our relationship with the FDA continues in good standing, enabling The Alliance to keep an open dialogue on issues that are important to our members. Listening to what our membership tells us Through emails and one-on-one conversations at the annual conference, and through questions and comments that come in to us from our website, The Alliance Board listens and learns about what’s working when it comes to bringing value to our membership and our annual conference. When we introduced the additional Fraud and Abuse learning track, conference attendees told us it was the ideal complement to the PDMA Compliance track, and right on target with their concerns. The fact that it has been so well received has led to our continuing with this track for 2011. Similarly, we have scheduled special Sunday afternoon workshops because many attendees have shared with us that they look forward to starting the learning as soon as they arrive. Adding value to Sunday is ideal for attendees who plan early arrivals and are eager to begin their educational experience as soon as they are on-site. It was also due to members’ reactions that we decided to continue to broaden our outreach to pharmaceutical executives who deal with compliance, even though not exclusively and directly. Our members have told us that they like the idea of coming to the conference with their workplace colleagues, appreciating the advantage of keeping what they learn alive among their coworkers throughout the year. The unexpected advantages In the many conversations that our Board has had, we are always pleased by comments that refer to the unexpected, an extra advantage that attendees have experienced at the conference. Sometimes it is a specific solution to a situation that has confounded them for a long time, a troublesome issue where no solution seemed attainable. Sometimes it is an enlightened awareness of the challenges that others in their organizations need to overcome, a heightened respect and understanding of their colleagues’ responsibilities. Sometimes it is the reality that there is some aspect of their work that needed more attention, or even less attention, leading to a more balanced, less stressful approach to their day-to-day obligations. But the comment that is expressed most is the feeling of affirmation that many members take with them from each year’s conference. It is the affirmation that our Board and our members share – the intense and secure belief that we have chosen well in deciding to be part of a dedicated group whose sole purpose is to secure a safe drug supply for our nation.
