Phenomenex Catalog International 2009 - (Page 78) GC Accessories Inlet Base Seals Parts for Agilent Technologies (HP) GC Systems Phenomenex offers high-quality replacement inlet base seals for Agilent split/splitless injection ports. These precision-machined, low-cost seals reduce the need for cleaning and reuse, saving you time and money. The gold plated seals provide exceptional inertness with better sealing properties than conventional uncoated steel. Their quality is guaranteed to be as good or better than other manufacturers’ seals or your money back. • For all Agilent 5890/6890 split/splitless injection ports • Guaranteed replacement to equivalent Agilent part numbers In Agilent split/splitless injection ports, the inlet seal sits at the base of the injector. Non-volatile residues, septum fragments, and other contaminates dirty this inlet seal, which can severely degrade chromatographic performance. The result can be analyte adsorption and breakdown as well as higher background noise, degraded quantitation and reproducibility. To avoid these problems we recommend frequent replacement of this seal. Gold plated seals provide improved inertness and better sealing properties. Phenomenex manufactures high quality gold-plated inlet seals for both split and splitless injections. Though they do not provide the same level of performance for acidic and basic compounds, the stainless steel seals are a low cost alternative to the gold seals and are great for people who are running hydrocarbon samples or looking for an economic product. Graphite sealing rings are also made to fit 6.3 mm OD inlet liners and can withstand temperatures above 250 °C. Tip for Agilent GCs: The critical seal for Agilent GCs is at the top of the inlet sleeve. Injection liner O-rings are made to seal leak tight on both split and splitless liners, but do require frequent replacement in order to ensure sealing integrity and optimal performance.
