BioRx Nearly a decade after it began, BioRx is enjoying steady growth in a booming specialty pharmaceuticals market. Healthy Business P eople rarely can say they get true satisfaction from their work, but Eric Hill, co-founder of BioRx, can. His Cincinnati-based firm provides specialty pharmaceuticals and supplies, and clinical, reimbursement and in-home support services that help make patients’ lives easier. “I get to go home every day and know I have a job that is positively impacting patients,” he says, noting that patients often send him emails, thanking BioRx for its services. A longtime veteran of the pharmaceuticals industry, Hill and his partner, President Philip Rielly, co-founded BioRx in 2004 after working for other specialty pharmacies. “We decided we could build a better mousetrap and set up shop,” Hill recalls. 134 Inside Healthcare Spring 2013 Today, BioRx employs a staff of 210 and serves multiple disease/therapy areas, including hemophilia and related bleeding disorders, immunoglobulin therapy, augmentation therapy for alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency, self-injection therapies for hereditary angioedema, and enteral and parenteral infusion therapies. While the company sells directly to consumers, “We [also] call directly on pharmaceutical manufacturers or a channel partner to grow their distribution,” he says.
