Roadtrek
www.roadtrek.com / HQ: Kitchener, Ontario / Employees: 200 / Specialty: Motorhomes / Roadtrek:
"Roadtrek has come a long way from our early success in developing a comfortable and functional Class B motorhome."

roadtrek is one of the leaders in class b recreational
vehicles for the north
american market.

Traveling in Comfort

roadtrek offers innovative and feature-rich
motorhomes as it rides the rv industry's
post-recession rebound.

There's no experience quite as
memorable as a cross-country vacation, but spending a few thousand miles in a cramped Truckster
with Aunt Edna would make anyone
long for a more spacious ride. For
the past 40 years, mid-sized motorhome maker Roadtrek has made that
dream of comfortable family road
trips a reality.
The Ontario-based company is
one of the leading manufacturers
of Class B recreational vehicles in
North America. Roadtrek's history
dates back to 1974 when Jac Hanemaayer began designing his own RV
with Home & Park Vehicles, a Cambridge, Ontario company. Hanemaayer wanted the comforts and
features of a full-sized motorhome
without the bulk.
He came up with a compact design

that fit his vision and realized the resulting vehicle could fill a void in the
RV market. Hanemaayer purchased
Home & Park Vehicles and soon after moved the company to Kitchener, Ontario, where it continues
to operate out of a 120,000-squarefoot manufacturing facility.

Creating a Market
The modern vision of Roadtrek truly
began a few years later in 1980 when
Hanemaayer redesigned the vehicles to feature a sweeping roofline,
lowered floor and a three-section
floor plan, according to the company. Roadtrek's ability to manufacture quality products and maintain
partnerships catapulted it to the top
of the Class B RV market in North
America, a position it continues to
hold to this day.

International

The company now holds 28.6
percent of the Class B motorhome
market, second only to Winnebago
Industries, according to Statistical
Surveys Inc. study published in January. "Roadtrek has come a long way
from our early success in developing
a comfortable and functional Class
B motorhome," the company says.
Like many manufacturing industries, the RV market took a major
step back during the Great Recession. Motorhome sales peaked in
2006 with 390,500 RV shipments,
according to the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association. Those
once-impressive numbers bottomed out with the economy as
shipments sunk to 165,700 in 2009.
In 2011, the Hanemaayer family sold
Roadtrek to Industrial Opportunity
Partners, an investment firm based
in Evanston, Ill. Since then, the RV
market began to rebound, returning
to pre-recession levels in 2014 with
356,700 shipments representing $15
billion in sales.
Increasingly luxurious and feature-rich vehicles have fueled
Roadtrek's success in recent years.
The company offers a range of models starting with the $82,706 fiveseat Zion SRT on the low end up
to the premier $141,518 seven-seat
E-Trek. Each Roadtrek vehicle is
built on a Mercedes, Chevrolet or
Ram ProMaster chassis to ensure it
will hold up to any travel plans.
"Roadtrek continues to stay true
to its quality, trust and innovation,"
the company explains. Each vehicle can be fully customized with a
number of options from the exterior
color to the interior fabric and cabinetry finishes. Buyers can also add
larger lithium power modules, generators, solar cookers, solar cells or
televisions.
