up, with just one line for starters," Johnson says.

25 YEARS OF GROWTH
The company rapidly grew its business by word of mouth and
hard work. Today, Johnson & White operates a 16,000-squarefoot warehouse, office and training facility in Olathe, Kan. The
company's territory includes Kansas and western Missouri.
Rusty Johnson became sole owner in 2012 after purchasing
his partners' share of the company. Since then, the company has added outside sales staff as well as new lines including
Aquatherm, a polypropylene pipe used in industrial and commercial applications.
In addition to Aquatherm, Charlotte Pipe and Zurn, The
company's other product lines include:

 Brass fittings, valves and pipe nipples manufactured by Anderson Metals Corp.;

 Polyethylene pipe from Endot Industries;
 Water coolers, drinking fountains, bottle stations and
chillers manufactured by Halsey Taylor;
 Commercial and residential Products from IPS Corp.;

Johnson and White says its private ownership gives it
some strong advantages in the marketplace.

 Irwin industrial tools;
 ITP polyethylene and rubber pipe insulation;
 Lenox power tool accessories;
 Water conditioning products from Marlo Inc.;
 Stainless steel fixtures from Metcraft Industries;
 Specialty coupling manufactured by Mission Rubber;
 FirestoppingsystemsmanufacturedbyProVentSystems;
 Terrazzo mop basins and shower basins from Stern-Williams Co.;
 Water heating equipment and solar and heat pumps from
Stiebel Eltron;
 Wilkins water solutions; and
 Worthington torches and accessories.
The majority of the plumbing and industrial products represented by Johnson & White are used in the commercial and
industrial sectors, with residential products making up the remainder of its work.
This diversity within its business helped the company manage the decline of the housing market during the Great Recession, Johnson notes.
In addition, the economic downturn helped the company
better focus. "We felt we had to work harder and put our face
