Infrastructure improvements are a big part of Airweld's
focus to ensure a successful future. In addition to creating
the specialty gas lab, it has also been working to improve its
pumping facilities.
"We've added new, more efficient filling equipment at our
pumping locations," Biedermann says. "We have five of those,
and we are working on improving those locations throughout
the entire company. Our revenue stream determines our investments. The Farmingdale (N.Y.) location has the biggest
revenue streams, and we maximize our efficiencies based on
where we are working the most and the hardest. As we work to
make ourselves more efficient, we are keeping our entire fleet
of more than 50,000 cylinders in tip-top shape."

Airweld provides custom gas blend six-packs to customers
in the food industry.

Packaging is another important element to consider, especially as Airweld looks for opportunities to get into higher
ends of the market. Traditionally, the company was providing product that would go from traditional high-pressure
cylinders to liquid cans, and now the company is using more
of what it calls "six-packs" or "cradles."
"Those are high-pressure cylinders that give the user the
mixture they need at precise calculations," Biedermann
says. "There are few of our competitors working in that area,
and while the concept is not new, we are updating it for a
new environment. We have the opportunity to work in the
same vein with our new packaging initiative and we have a
seasoned sales force that is out there making sure we keep
our current customers properly supplied while looking for
new customers and giving them new ways to do things."
Vendor relationships are also critical to Airweld's success.
The company looks for vendors that will partner with the
company on target areas.
"We look to them to help us connect with certain prospects
