building web-based dashboards for internal use that increase
efficiency and improve performance. "The staff is using these
web-based applications and it gives them alerts if something
appears to be out of order that they need to pay attention to,"
Smith says. "We are constantly monitoring data and the application notifies us when something looks like it's going
wrong."

IMPROVING LOGISTICS
The company is a leading wholesale distributor of electrical
products, automation controls and industrial supplies, and
logistics has been its core competency for years. OneSource
works to improve logistically and has done so recently by
implementing a CDC model that virtually combines its two
southern California distribution centers to appear as one.
"These buildings that are an hour apart are effectively one
big building, electronically," Smith says. "It gives us the ability to really improve our fill rates, service levels and inventory availability for our customers and inside salespeople with
an effort to consolidate transactions to 100 percent ship and
fill rates."
To become more of an "Amazon-like logistics player" in the
industry, Smith says OneSource updated its truck-routing software that is fully integrated with its systems and web applications. "We have the most optimized routes every day when our
trucks leave the building," Smith says. "Our inside sales people
have the ability when a customer calls to see where the truck is
that is carrying the item and tell the customer the expected delivery time within a 15-minute timeframe. Customers can also
go on the web and see that themselves."

STRATEGIC ALIGNMENT
OneSource was founded in 1983 with a mission to continuously focus on customer needs, quality and service while
strengthening its position as the leading supplier in the market. The company started out as a full-line automation controls distributor and added electrical products and industrial suppliers over the years. Its vast product offering sets the
company apart in the industry because distributors typically
focus on just one of OneSource's three areas of expertise.
