PROView - January 2008 - (Page 2) Chairman’s Notes A Year to Strengthen Our Connection by Pat Ivers, Chairman of the Board A new year is now upon us – a time for renewal and revitalization. I’m certain many of you are concerned and anxious about our future. 2007 has no doubt been a challenging year as our industry continues to go through a transition. Because of continued uncertainties among home buyers and sellers, our immediate future may seem unpredictable – yet we can be certain that a new real estate marketplace is on the horizon and we will be ready. We have seen many of our fellow members struggle and some have even left the business. Those of us who remain have been called “survivors” – I like to call us “successes”. Remember, success is not measured by how many listings you have or how many transactions you have closed but by the courage you have shown. These are defining times in our lives. Although we continue to face a challenging market, you have shown resolve and you should be proud of your professionalism. You are a success. All of us feel the impact of a slow market, but we are united and together we build strength. Together, we are members of the Pinellas Realtor® Organization. For last year, Carolyn Kling, our then-Chairman, asked you to “Get Connected” in 2007. For 2008, I ask you to “Strengthen Our Connection.” With strong and caring leaders, PRO is ready for a new era in real estate. Now more than ever, our members look to our organization for support – your leadership has listened. Committed to providing support to our 2 PINELLAS REALTOR® ORGANIZATION members, PRO offers an extensive arsenal of tools and education resources, many of them for free, that will give you the resources you need to bring your business to the next level. ListingbookTM, Mongo Fax, free website templates, a help desk, Realtor® Alert, MLS statistics – these services only mark the beginning of a long list of member benefits you have access to – for free. PRO is constantly on the lookout for cutting-edge products, services and programs that will help you enhance your marketing of your services, educate your sellers, price your listings, showcase properties and close your deals. Now is also the time for you to bring your knowledge to the next level. PRO’s comprehensive education programs, offered in both classroom and online format, will help prepare you for challenges ahead and give you a winning edge. With over 6,000 members joining in our effort, PRO offers strong political advocacy through RPAC and works to build a positive image among the general public, through public image campaigns and proactive media relations. Make sure you educate yourself about the many resources and benefits you receive as part of your PRO membership. Together, as members of the Pinellas Realtor® Organization, we have the power to join together in our pursuit of continued success.
