PROView - January 2009 - (Page 22) 2009 Leadership A Word from Your 2009 Leadership It’s with great pleasure I introduce to you our 2009 PRO Leadership team. Together we will work tireslessly to make sure PRO continues to be your #1 business resource with the high level of support you’ve come to rely on. Victor Adamo Victor Adamo, CRB, CRS, GRI Chairman Throughout my career I always made it a point to seek out available education opportunities and to earn as many designations as possible. I learned early on that expanding your knowledge through continued education and earned designations directly impacts your income! Even today, after many years in my profession, I still attend as many training classes provided by PRO as possible, especially the Education Marketplace, which is even for free. I encourage you to take full advantage of the education opportunities that are given to you with your PRO membership. Heather Smith, GRI Chairman-Elect While these times are challenging for all of us, your commitment to your profession is evident by the fact that you continue to be a part of our local REALTOR® family. We’ll get through the difficult times together and we will be stronger on the other side. Are you participating in programs and events hosted by PRO? Have you learned about the new technologies available to you as a member of PRO? Spend some time educating yourself about what your association offers. Share your ideas. Get involved. Let us know how we can help you. Nannette Abney, CRB, GRI Treasurer The Code of Ethics has been the cornerstone of our industry since 1913. It has seen many changes through the years, as has our business, but it has never lost its relevance. I believe it is most important, especially in today’s market, to abide and honor the practices of this timetested legacy. It sets forth our duties as REALTORS®, and sets us apart and above other real estate practioners. This is one of the few industries where we, as competitors, count on each other for our livelihood. In my opinion, it’s a great industry and a great time to be in real estate.” Leon Sarkisian, CRB, CRS, GRI Secretary Change is constant in real estate, just like in any other business. While our market and profession are going through challenging times, now is the time to prepare yourself for the future. By the time we enter a new market it will have changed, and all for the better. Remember a few years ago when you said you wish you had time to create a marketing program? Now is that time to prepare for the market ahead. Make improvements to your website- or get one! Start a blog. Write a HOA newsletter column. Create a prospecting system. Add a contact management system. Where to start? Visit your Association’s website today to learn about tools available to you. The next step is yours. Pat Ivers, CRB Past Chairman As the 2009 Past Chairman, I have tremendous confidence in our current Board of Directors and expect a great 2009! Education is essential in our profession and PRO offers many opportunities with both classroom and on-line training. The Education Marketplace is a quarterly session with up-to-date training and networking opportunities. Required classes for Code of Ethics and designations are also available. Make education a priority this year - I urge you to take advantage of PRO training!! 22 PINELLAS REALTOR® ORGANIZATION January 2009
