PROView - February 2009 - (Page 2) Chairman’s Notes 09 > 08 for the Local Housing Market by Victor Adamo, Chairman of the Board Earlier this month, Tampa Bay Rays’ manager Joe Maddon laid out the mantra his team will follow this year: 09 > 08. Coach, I’m following your lead. I believe 2009 will be better than 2008 for our local housing market as well. That’s not to say it will be easy. We’re in for the challenge of our professional lifetimes. Jobs are lost, home financing remains difficult to obtain and consumer confidence continues in a downward spiral. In the midst of dire market conditions consumers need our expertise and guidance more than ever before. Here are some actionable ideas I would like to share. 1. Become the Source of News Idea: consumers a reason to come back to both your website and blog. 2. Taking Advantage of Social Media? Stay Focused with a Plan Idea: “You need to be on FaceBook!” some will say. “You must write a blog to be successful these days,” others may suggest. Someone may tell you to “use twitter to grow your business.” While social media marketing opens the doors to phenomenal business opportunities, engaging in the new age of online networking can quickly be overwhelming. I’ve heard from many who have online profiles on multiple websites but with no time to nurture any of them. Action: 09 > 08 Negative reports on our economy can make even the most upbeat individual discouraged. Don’t let it happen. Even more importantly, don’t let it happen to your customers. Here’s an idea: become the source of news. Consider starting a blog where you give customers the information they need in order to make an educated decision on whether to purchase a new home. Compile detailed data on the specific area you serve, and share it with your contacts. We know mainstream media will not give them accurate and reliable information. Instead, you have the chance to nurture and strengthen your business relationships by providing insights into the local marketplace. Action: Set up a free blog at blogger.com, write insightful articles about your local market, and share it with your sphere of influence. Add a link from your website to your blog to capture the interest of those who may visit your website for the first time. By providing insightful tips and valuable market information you give 2 PINELLAS REALTOR® ORGANIZATION Before you get started with social media marketing, I suggest you develop a plan to determine what you will use social media for. Then stay focused on that plan. The challenge with social media marketing is that there isn’t really a one-size-fits-all solution for everyone. Instead, your online marketing strategy must be highly individualized based on your audience, your goals, and especially what you’d like gain from using social media. Visit the PRO Marketing Blog for tips on how to get started. 3. More Marketing For Less Idea: Now is not the time to scale back your efforts to nurture your sphere of influence. Now is also not the time to withdraw from generating new leads. But increased costs to do marketing paired with an often non-existing marketing budget can present an impossible equation. The good news is that there are ways to get your name out there without breaking the bank. February 2009 http://blogs.tampabayrealtor.com/marketing.php http://www.blogger.com
