PROView - May 2008 - (Page 8) What Does it Take To Serve on the PRO Board of Directors? by Ann Guiberson, President & CEO In order to carry out the mission of the Pinellas REALTOR® Organization the PRO business plan states, “Leadership is the key to the future. Only through enlightened leaders and enhanced governance will the potential of this plan be realized.” The PRO Board of Directors operates in a manner designed to make effective use of director creativity, productivity, and time resources. Directors are expected to develop expertise in various industry issues and focus on maintaining a strategic, global awareness of trends and conditions within the industry. The role of directors is further defined as being one of developing association policy and ensuring healthy resources for now and in the future. Directors focus on the big picture rather than on micromanaging. The Nominating Committee has the task of seeking out a slate of candidates for 2009. The vacant positions are Chairman, Chairman-Elect, Secretary, Treasurer each for one-year terms and three Directors for two-year terms. Members interested in being interviewed for potential candidacy should complete the Consent to Serve Form now available on PRO’s at www.TampaBayRealtor.com. Anyone interested in being selected to serve on the Board of Directors must also complete the Business Plan class which will be held on June 18. This is only time this year this class will be available. Qualifications required by the bylaws to serve on the Board of Directors: • Be a member in good standing, with dues paid by April 30. • Complete the PRO Business Plan Class • Complete a Consent to Serve Form available on www. tampabayrealtor.com The nomination and election timetable this year: • Consent to Serve Forms available on Web site June 6 • Business Plan class (required for all candidates) June 18 • Consent to Serve forms and photos due at PRO July 10 • Nominating Committee interviews candidates July 24 • Nominating Committee slate posted on the website by July 25 • Voting online at www.tampabayrealtor.com from September 1-10 • Annual meeting and election results September 19 There are many challenges and exciting times ahead. PRO needs members committed to strengthening the proposition that your association is a solution provider to the real estate professionals in Pinellas County.
