PROView - November 2007 - (Page 2) CHAIRMAN’S NOTES My Year in Review by Carolyn Kling, Chairman of the Board 2007 is coming to a close, and so is the year during which I’ve been fortunate to be the Chairman of the Pinellas Realtor Organization. I’m grateful for the opportunity to have served our over 7,000 member Realtors. Connect for Success My guiding light for PRO’s efforts this year has been to Get Connected, and I think it’s safe to say that nothing could have been more important this year than to navigate the rough seas of the real estate market with the combined strengths of our Realtor community. Your Board of Directors were equally as committed to supporting our members and launched many new program and product initiatives which hopefully will help you strengthen your business for your future growth and success. I do believe, however, that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Once we come out of this slow market, I anticipate a revival in our business. Buyers are presently on the sidelines because of their uncertainties about short-term developments in the marketplace. We will probably see an increase in the number of sold and purchased homes once consumer confidence grows. Greatness from within I firmly believe that through challenge comes greatness. Now is the time to look ahead to better times and prepare yourself for a marketplace that may be different from any other you previously have experienced. Our marketplace has no doubt gone through a transition and we are faced with completely new variables. More than ever, our customers rely on us to guide them through the complex home buying and selling process. I firmly believe that through challenge comes greatness It has been gratifying to connect with the many successful professionals we are fortunate enough to have among our membership during my year as Chairman. Our Realtor community is facing a challenge more difficult than most of us probably anticipated a year ago; yet I have noticed a resolve and persistence to persevere in spite of a marketplace going through a very difficult transition during all of 2007. In closing, I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all those who have worked so hard to achieve the many goals and objectives we set out to accomplish in 2007. 2008 will be a pivotal year for our business and our members. I have full faith my successor at the helm of the Pinellas Realtor Organization, Pat Ivers, will steer the PRO ship forward toward calmer waters. 2 PINELLAS REALTOR® ORGANIZATION November / December 2007
