Mentally and visually, remove any preconceived ideas of what you want to provide and instead of focus on what you as a customer would want from your agent. Look at your branding statement. Is it focused on the consumer or your business? Take a look at your most recent postcard campaign. Was it consumer-centric or focused on your desire to build business? Consider your typical response time and ask yourself if you’ve done everything possible to make sure you’re easily available. Can you access emails on your phone no matter where you are, and do website leads immediately arrive in your cell phone, giving you the opportunity to respond immediately? List everything you do and mark the aspects of your business you feel are focused on the consumer rather than your business and start working to change any components that appear non-consumer-centric. When we look at the ways you’re expected to do business these days it is easy to conclude that we certainly are not in Kansas anymore. It’s time to embrace a new reality and grow with it. When you start preparing your 2009 business plan, view it as your yellow-brick road through the ever-changing landscape of Oz.
