Just consider all that FAR and NAR do to promote affordable housing, protect your licensure, and help fight onerous constitutional amendments, exemplified by a recent hometown democracy effort, from finding their way to a ballot. When REALTORS® become involved in an issue, we mean business. RPAC is the backbone of our advocacy efforts recommendation is based on a candidate’s experience with and knowledge and support of issues most important to REALTORS® as well as the expected challenges with a particular political race. Gearing Up for the Next Year Next year promises to present a number of challenges we need to be prepared to counter and conquer. Now is the time to strenghten our political muscles for the next year. Donating to RPAC is important because of the over-abundance of political and legislative issues affecting REALTORS® and our clients. RPAC is like having a political advocate in your corner at all times, fighting for your rights while you spend your time practicing real estate. Brandi Gabbard, REALTOR® Bindman Bruzas Realty 2009 Chair, RPAC Committee and as soon as a bill or ordinance likely to affect your livelihood is slated for a vote in the Florida Legislature or any of the local elected bodies, RPAC works tirelessly on your behalf. The Process of Selecting Local Candidates PRO forms a candidate screening committee for each local election cycle and all REALTOR® members of PRO are eligible to serve. First, committee members are vetted for any potential conflict of interest. Next, PRO provides training to properly evaluate a candidate’s position on any given subject and their stance on issues important to REALTORS®. Once each member the committee is trained, candidates are interviewed over the course of several weeks. The candidate screening committee then makes a decision as to whom to recommend to the PRO Board of Directors. Party affiliation is not the deciding factor. Instead, a PINELLAS REALTOR® ORGANIZATION Included in the dues billing for 2009 is a recommended $99 voluntary RPAC donation. Please consider pledging your support as you pay your dues. for next year. Don’t forget, your contribution to RPAC keeps the REALTOR® party strong. Want to Get Involved? Have you ever wanted to be more involved in local and state politics? Have you ever wondered why PRO or FAR supported a particular candidate.
