The Diversity & Inclusion Technology Center includes a staff of geographic consultants, global compliance group, communications manager and director of leadership capability. In 2007, the office of the chief executive established a set of corporate-wide diversity goals, including representative leadership and employee engagement. Dow considers networking, coaching, and mentoring a means to provide additional opportunities for people to grow throughout their careers. It offers six employee networks with over 100 chapters worldwide. One of them, the African American Network (AAN) fosters personal and professional growth among its members through networking, mentoring, workshops and the opportunity for employees to hone leadership skills. Its role is to partner with other company leaders to drive the strategy forward with the support of its Office of Diversity and Inclusion staff. The council developed a strategy and multi-year plan for making accelerating change, particularly in the area of representation and how employees are recruited, placed and developed. It has added several programs such as the Minority Hotel Owner and Developer Program, which launched in 2005, a Managing Inclusion/Global English Program, started in 2002, and an Embracing Inclusion Program to augments the Managing Inclusion course. 27 Hewlett Packard Co. HP drives several diversity recruiting initiatives to ensure it secures top talent, representative of all the dimensions of diversity. This includes employee-specific forums and networks, mandatory diversity training, an open-door policy, college recruiting programs, workshops and focus groups.
