Implementing the SIOP Model as an Agent for Instructional Change in Secondary Content-Area Classrooms
In an age of increased accountability with higher LEP standards that do not take into account linguistic attainment, sheltered instruction implementation provides a complete instructional platform to address first-line instructional needs. This presentation will take an in-depth look at a district’s SIOP implementation journey across secondary content-area classrooms, and discuss how the implementation of the SIOP model has led to teacher instructional success and ultimately student achievement.
