in regular schools, but spent at least 20 percent of the time outside the regular classroom. The remaining 62 percent were essentially mainstreamed at least 80 percent of the time. That’s up from 57 percent in 2004, the first year for which figures are available. Even among the 24,866 K12 students classified as having a traumatic brain injury (TBI) in 2008, only about 9 percent were educated outside of regular schools.
