not just music students buy 23% of textbooks online T HE BUYING TREND TO
THE INTERNET CONTINUES: students are purchasing 23% of textbooks over the
Internet, either through the college store's Web site or another retailer
according to the latest installment in the Student WatchTM Campus Market
Research series. This is up from 16% in 2004. We have been tracking
students' purchase of textbooks online since 1998 and have seen it grow
significantly, says Julie Traylor, director of planning and research for
the National Association of College Stores NACS . Price has always been
the primary reason students buy online, but the reasons for not buying
security and concerns about buying the right product have also lessened
over time. When asked why they chose to shop for textbooks online, 61% of
students shared that price was their determining factor, 30% chose other
as their reason, 21% said their friends recommended doing so Just the
Facts and 18% said professors recommended shopping online. The Student
Watch survey was conducted at 21 campuses nationwide
