Pet Owner's World 2008 - (Page 6) Humor Miscellaneous Don’t Forget the Backyard Birds! Millions upon millions of people enjoy feeding and watching wild birds. There are some whole-hearted birders who dedicate much time, travel and money to their hobby. But as a rule, not that many people approach their bird watching in such a serious manner. To most of us, it’s simply a very enjoyable way to maintain a connection with nature while helping out the wild bird population with foodstuffs. Most pet sitters know the joys backyard birding provides and are happy to keep your feeders and waterers replenished. Some provide this service for a small additional charge, depending on the time involved. (Check with your individual pet sitter, as this can vary with the number of feeders, etc.) However, most charges are nominal and well worth the effort to keep your feathered friends accustomed to the habitat you have worked to provide. Some pet sitters have even attended wild bird care seminars to further their knowledge as pet care experts. Pet Sitters International regularly offers these types of educational programs at their regional meetings and annual Quest for Excellence Convention.
