Chemical Processing - August 2007 - (Page 44) >> EQUIPMENT & SERVICES MIXER MORE EASILY BLENDS MATERIALS This dual-shaft mixer incorporates a helical agitator and high-speed dispersion blade. The new combination of agitators provides improved axial and radial turnover of the materials being mixed, as well as high shear of the product. This feature is especially useful for: viscous materials that have poor flow qualities; the addition of powders that have a tendency to float on the surface; or when heat transfer of the batch constituents is important. The helical agitator is designed for bi-directional operation. The mixer also includes a conical bottom vessel, special electrically actuated discharge valve, double mechanical seals, a 100-psig jacket for heating and cooling, a temperature probe and all stainless steel wetted parts. Charles Ross & Son (800) 243-ROSS www.mixers.com VALVES CONTROL ALL SIZES OF ACTUATORS High-Flow NAMUR valves mount directly to pneumatic actuators. The valves compact and modern design can control actuators of all sizes and is said to provide exceptional flow. The solenoid valve offers NAMURcompatible models in: 3/2, 5/2 and 5/3 functions for the control of single- and double-acting pneumatic actuators; ¼-in. and ½-in. NTP port sizes with standard manual override; and nominal Cv flow of 1.2 and 3.0, respectively. The valves feature a sealing system with a “swimming” O-ring design, which allows valve sealing to increase proportionally to pressure. It works with multiple industrial protocols and applications simultaneously, providing a single wireless network. Scalable to 30,000 devices, it supports existing Honeywell XYR 5000 wireless transmitters as well as the company’s new line of XYR 6000 transmitters. It also supports wired transmitters, mobile worker devices such as IntelaTrac PKS and Mobile Station, and standard Wi-Fi and Ethernet clients. The open, standards-based infrastructure allows manufacturers to take advantage of new applications as they become available. Standard features include a Yokogawa data acquisition station (DAQ) that continuously monitors temperature, pressure and flow, enabling users to easily and cost-effectively record and print digital testing data. Additionally, the system offers Steam in Place (SIP) for aseptic processing of drugs in a cGMP environment, and Ultra Clean in Place (UCIP) that eliminates the need to disassemble for cleaning between batches or before storage.
