DaviD West continues to remold the management of Hershey co. the month-old ceo in mid-December made several key appointments to his management team. John Bilbrey, who was Jastrzebski Buck a senior vice president and president of Hershey international was named president of Hershey north america; he retains the title svP. He joined the company in 2003. Replacing Bilbrey as president of Hershey international is ted Jastrzebski, who also was promoted to a senior vice president. Jastrzebski joined Hershey in 2004 and was vice president of international finance and planning. Michele Buck was named global chief marketing officer. she was chief marketing officer, as well as an svP, which she remains. she’s been with the company since 2005. •PEOPLE• all three report directly to West. other members of the Hershey executive team are Bert alfonso, svP and chief financial officer; Marcella arline, svP and chief people officer; Dan azzara, vice president of global research and development; George Davis, vice president and chief information officer; and Burt snyder, senior vice president, general counsel and secretary. azzara, arline, alfonso and snyder report to West. Davis will report to alfonso. the company is conducting a search for a senior vice president of global operations and soon will look for a new head of HR, as arline recently announced her intention to retire. Richard Lenny was replaced as ceo on Dec. 1 and as chairman on Jan. 1 – the latter job going to Kenneth Wolfe, who spent 34 years at Hershey, retiring in 2001 as chairman and ceo. the controlling Hershey trust late last year made clear its intentions to clear out the executive suite. several vice presidents left in the final quarter of the year and eight of the company’s 10 directors were asked to resign in november. Pilgrim’s Pride mourns death of CEO o.B. GooLsBy JR., PResiDent anD chief executive officer of Pilgrim’s Pride corp., Pittsburg, texas, died Dec. 17 after suffering a massive stroke a few days earlier while on a hunting trip in south texas. He was 60. “our company has lost a dear friend, respected mentor and a man of the highest ethics and integrity,” said Ken Pilgrim, chairgoolsby man. “o.B. was a respected, gifted executive who helped guide Pilgrim’s Pride through a period of historic growth with candor, honesty and a wonderful sense of humor,” added Lonnie “Bo” Pilgrim, senior chairman and co-founder of Pilgrim’s Pride. “o.B. also was a man of great, unwavering faith, and we will miss him dearly. our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this very difficult time.” the Pilgrim’s Pride board of directors will be appointing a special committee of directors to begin the process of selecting a new president and chief executive officer. no timetable has been set for a decision. www.foodprocessing.com Mr. Goolsby served as president and ceo since september 2004. Prior to that, he was president and chief operating officer for two years. He joined the company in 1969 at its distribution center in Mt. Pleasant, texas, and one year later moved into plant sales. Mr. Goolsby is survived by his wife, Barbara; his three children, Melissa, Greg and tennille, and 11 grandchildren. Briefs There has been a handful of orderly promotions at minnetonka, minn.-based Michael Foods Inc. gregg ostrander, ceo since 14 and chairman since 2001, was named executive chairman, but handing over the ceo job to david Johnson, who has been president, coo and ceo-elect since joining the company last april (when he left Kraft Foods as president-north american commercial). John reedy, cfo since 188 and executive vice president since 2000, steps up to vice chairman.
