Food Processing - April 2008 - (Page 54) Food Processing’s annual AEC & Site Selection Directory is the premier resource for information on organizations that can help processors design, build, modernize or expand their plants — or nd a location for a new plant. But only about a third of our readers will see the paper directory bound into the center of this magazine. For those of you who did not get the AEC & Site Selection Directory, please view it online at: w w w.fo o d pro ce ssi ng. co m / w p_ d own l o ads/ae c_ directory_2008.html. & FUSARO AND SCHRAM GIVE YOU THE HIGHLIGHTS You now have a great list of AEC firms to contact but what’s next? In this video Tim Schram, director of incentive services from Grant Thornton LLP, and Food Processing editor Dave Fusaro cut to the chase and give you five tips food processors’ should follow to get the most financial incentives for your new or expanded plant. See and hear Fusaro and Schram in a new video on: www.FoodProcessing.com/gt/knowledge heat-resistant film allows placement of a promotional coupon right on the film lidding of a frozen food tray – safe even if the consumer forgets to remove the coupon before cooking. AND THERE’S MORE Grant Thornton and Food Processing have partnered to bring you other valuable reports and original research to help food processors. The following are free downloads available from the Grant Thornton Knowledge Center on FoodProcessing.com: 2008 Manufacturing Trends Survey Before you break ground, examine the collective wisdom of food processing executives as they predict the manufacturing issues for 2008. A downloadable report and video are available on the home page of the Grant Thornton Knowledge Center: www.FoodProcessing.com/gt/knowledge organic solvents. Thus the films expose the food in the package to no odorous solvents, safeguarding taste and aroma. As a further benefit, “The LumiLid XL5 lidding film is actually lower in cost compared with other films, because we do not have to manage solvent coating processing issues like high solvent costs, measurement of retained solvents, incineration and waste management,” says Mike Theriault, business manager at Toray. To make sure even the youngest family members have the option of eating tasty microwavable entrées, Gerber Products Co. (www.gerber.com), Florham Park, N.J., launched Graduates for Toddlers Lil’ Entrées nationwide. These microwavable mini-entrées are retorted and filled into trays sealed with an easy-peel film. Taste-tested by toddlers, the meals contain no artificial flavors or added preservatives. The Lil’ Entrées primary package, molded with two compartments to accommodate multi-component products like turkey and mashed potatoes with gravy, is shelf-stable and reportedly offers 18-month shelf life. The Gerber entrées cook in 30 seconds in the microwave but are also safe to eat at ambient temperature. It doesn’t get much more convenient than that.
