The Glass Pack aGinG insTiTuTe (GPi) named the winners of its 2007 clear choice awards, and a number of the top packages are from the food world. This year’s awards recognized 11 consumer packaged goods (cPG) companies and their achievements in expanding the frontiers of glass packaging design. The winner of best overall package design was Gentleman Jack Rare Tennessee Whiskey, a high-end version of Jack daniel’s, manufactured by Brown-Forman. The supplier of the glass container was Owens-illinois inc. The judges said the packaging communicated quality and heritage through artful package designs. “Gentleman Jack Rare Tennessee Whiskey’s new glass bottle design features a curved shoulder and embossed decoration,” they wrote. “The packaging also provides a showcase for the newly designed label highlighting Gentleman Jack’s unique characteristic of being the only double charcoal-mellowed whiskey in the world.
