GARLOCK Garlock MULTI-SWELL™ Delivers on Utility Company’s “Zero Leak Tolerance” Policy One major utility company had chronic leak problems in its turbine’s lube oil and seal oil systems. Flanges and gear pump casing covers were constant sources of leaks, resulting in oil loss and unsightly residue. For more information go to www.klozure.com GARLOCK Mill Saves Millions with Garlock Sealing Solutions One U.S. mill needed to increase its plant’s efficiency—significantly reducing water consumption and tramp water, and increasing the mean time between repairs (MTBR). Garlock and a local distributor performed a complete rotating equipment audit of over 1,000 pumps and agitators, and determined which sealing techniques and products would be the most cost-effective and offer the best return on investment. We identified and eliminated 100 GPM of tramp water—approximately 50 million gallons of water per year—which has saved the mill $750,000 annually. This elimination and several operational improvements helped increase the concentration of black liquor to the recovery boiler by approximately 1 Baume point, which translates into an additional $1,000,000 in estimated annual cost reductions.
