Although the Lagoon looks like a part of the landscape, it is actually man made. The geothermal waters are pumped out of the ground to provide heating in Reykjavik. The excess is channelled into the Lagoon. With a constant average temperature of 3-39 °C, the water is rich in mineral salts and silica mud which help exfoliate and condition the skin – the milky blue colour comes from the natural blue-green algae – all of this makes a great way to relax and rejuvenate!
