The GPS modules include a CPU, ROM, RAM, TCXO, and saw filter. GN-84A (22 22 3 millimeters) with antenna detection and protection circuits is designed for navigation and vehicle tracking applications, has high reliability, and can easily be installed or integrated. GN-84E (11.35 16 1.9 millimenters) has an automatic antenna switch (passive or active) and is designed for navigation/tracking, PNDs, smart phones, and PDAs, with multiple antenna configurations for maximum flexibility. GH-84 (23.7 24.7 7.4 millimeters) with an integrated antenna is for handheld products and is compatible with the GH-82 series. GT-84 (22 22 3 millimeters) provides reliable and accurate 1PPS output for timing applications in the same compact design as the GN-84A. TRAIM ensures valid, reliable GPS functions. Furuno, www.furuno.co.jp p GPS/Inertial Interface Support Spirent has increased the range of supported interfaces on its SimINERTIAL system. As well as tightly coupled integrated GPS inertial navigators, the company is able to support loosely coupled inertial measurement unit (IMU) and GPS implementations. Spirent’s system streams simulated motion data to its SimINERTIAL system, which translates this into representative realtime data streams at the data rate and format appropriate to the unit being tested. Transfer alignment and multiple sensor architectures can also be supported. Spirent Communications, www.spirent.com/positioning t High-Gain, Low-Noise Amplifier The MAX2659 is a high-gain, low-noise amplifier (LNA) for GPS, Galileo, and GLONASS applications. Designed using Maxim’s low-power SiGe BiCMOS process, this device achieves a high 20.5 decibel (dB) gain and a low noise figure of 0.8 dB while maximizing the input-referred 1 dB compression point and third-order intercept point at 12 dBm and 2 dBm, respectively. It is designed for a range of low-cost consumer applications, including automotive navigation, asset tracking, cellular handsets, portable navigation devices (PNDs), digital cameras, laptops, and ultra-mobile personal computers (UMPCs). Maxim Integrated Products, www.maxim-ic.com Software Receiver u The NavX-NSR GPS/ Galileo Navigation Software Receiver is an interactive GPS/Galileo software receiver combining live software configurability, advanced signal processing, and a high-bandwidth RF front-end to provide new software receiver utilities. All signal processing tasks are performed in software, including acquisition and tracking, correlation, and signal conditioning. Contrary to traditional hardware receivers even low-level parameters are adaptable, such as sensitivity, tracking loop bandwidth, spreading codes, multipath mitigation scheme, or intermediate frequency. Both real-time and postprocessing modes are available. IFEN, www.ifen.com Improvements for Precision Agriculture u John Deere has released two improvements to its software for its precision-guidance field equipment. The previous version of StarFire RTK had sub-inch accuracy but was limited to a six-mile radius from the base station. The Long Range RTK software maintains the accuracy but allows a 12-mile radius from the base station. The Shading Optimization software for the AutoTrac SF1 and SF2 systems allows AutoTrac to stay enabled when moving through areas with trees and windbreaks, continuing to "AutoTrac" even if the StarFire iTC Receiver is receiving a signal from the L1 band only.
