GPS World - May 2008 - (Page 40) GPS WORLD EXCLUSIVE Yoaz Bar-Sever Manager | Global Differential GPS System, Jet Propulsion Laboratory, California Institute of Technology Peter Duffett-Smith Fellow | Cambridge Silicon Radio; Reader in Experimental Radio Physics | University of Cambridge His key areas are new products for A-GPS and survey markets and natural hazards monitoring, such as the Automatic Precise Positioning Service to transfer precise positioning from PC-based applications to webbased and server-hosted expert systems; the TDRSS Augmentation Service for Satellites to enable precise autonomous orbit determination; space-based techniques to improve realization of the terrestrial reference frame; and helping to design the next-generation GPS ground segment (OCX). Jérémie Godet Security and Technical Coordinator | Galileo Unit of the European Commission Anthea Coster Research Scientist | Atmospheric Sciences Group MIT Haystack Observatory Working with GPS since 1985, Coster' s recent research has focused on producing high-resolution temporal and spatial maps of the total electron content (TEC) collected by the global network of GNSS receivers, to study geophysical mechanisms that produce space weather effects such as the large spatial and temporal gradients in TEC that are observed during geomagnetic storms. These gradients are of concern to DGPS users, including SBAS systems like WAAS. Gobet' s objectives are to set up an EC team in charge of exercising the role of program manager for the full deployment of the Galileo infrastructure towards ESA acting as procurement and design agent towards industry; converging on remaining open issues in the frame of WGA, in particular as far as compatibility issues are concerned; and finalizing draft proposals from the EC on a PRS Access Policy, and on Galileo technology and export control regime. ª My goal is to see GNSS services integrated properly into GSM and W-CDMA mobile phones to provide fast and reliable positioning services in every environment. Key to success is the provision of accurate time and position information to the integrated GNSS receiver in a manner which is independent of the network operator. Our eGPS technology is now being integrated with Bluetooth. º Andrew Simsky Senior GNSS Scientist | Septentrio Satellite Navigation ª I look forward to working with GIOVE-B signals, including the famous MBOC. We are presently analyzing Compass measurements. I will focus on development of new algorithms for our future multi-system, multifrequency receivers, exploring the possibilities of triple-frequency geometry-free phase ambiguity resolution using GIOVE data. º 40 GPS World | May 2008 www.gpsworld.com http://www.gpsworld.com
