The general opening session for HotelWorld will be a threepart series beginning with: “A Global Viewpoint,” with Terry Lanni, chairman and H By Christina Harrison H&MM Columnist c.e.o. of MGM Mirage; Rudy Maxa, a premier consumer travel writer and broadcaster; and an update on the worldwide lodging industry with emphasis on Dubai, Macau and Las Vegas. A follow-up panel, “Leading Leaders,” by Philip Lee, c.e.o. of the Leader’s Edge and mas- ter leadership team developer, will help you identify and cultivate leaders, compete globally for leadership talent, blend homegrown and outside leaders, recognize contribution to the organization, and know how and when to let go of misfit leaders. Chip Conley, keynote speak- er of HotelWorld and c.e.o. and owner of Joie de Vivre Hospitality, will discuss his new book “Peak: How Great Companies Get Their Mojo From Maslow.” The final general sessions will be held Feb. 27. “Is There Green in Your Future?” will dispel myths and offer tips on how to create an environmentally friendly hotel that your guests (and bottom line) will love. “So You REALLY Like Working With People?” will give hoteliers the five principles for personal fulfillment in hospitality according to Doug Kennedy, president of Kennedy Training Network. HotelWorld also sets the stage for the first-ever HotelWorld Global Hospitality and Design Awards dinner sponsored by Hotel & Motel Management, Hotel Design and Luxury Hotelier magazines. The event will be held Feb. 26 to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of deserving leaders in the hospitality industry.
