HILTON COLLEGE Gary Loveman [left], chairman, c.e.o. and president of Harrah’s Entertainment, and Howard Schultz, chairman of Starbucks Coffee Co., were recently inducted into the Hospitality Industry Hall of Honor at the Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management. The Hospitality Hall recognizes industry leaders who have made great contributions in their fields. The College displays portraits of past winners in a hallway, the Leader’s Gallery, and also features artifacts provided by the inductees in the Hospitality Archives. The induction ceremony was the culmination of a week of events, including an industry lunch and sessions for students to learn about the ever-changing industry. The Conrad N. Hilton College is part of the University of Houston. The JW Marriott Cancun Resort & Spa has received the AAA Five Diamond Hotel Award for 2008. Additionally, one of the property’s premier restaurants, the upscale Italian eatery Gustinos, has been granted the AAA Four Diamond Award. The Lifetime Achievement Award at the Americas Lodging Investment Summit will be given to Stephen F. Bollenbach, co-chairman and c.e.o. of Hilton Hotels Corp. The event will be held Jan. 28-30 at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Los Angeles. Executive Travel magazine’s Leading Edge Awards reader survey named Marriott Hotels & Resorts as the best hotel chain and best hotel for business service. The Ritz-Carlton Hotels & Resorts was named the best luxury hotel in its annual program. Robert Patasnick was recognized with the 2007 Paragon Award at Hospitality Financial & Technology Professionals’ 2007 Annual Convention & Tradeshow during the opening session Oct. 18 at the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville (Fla.) Riverfront. Patasnick is a consultant with McGladrey & Pullen LLC. Homewood Suites by Hilton received one of Budget Travel magazine’s 2007 Extra Mile Awards for its Suite Selection online room reservation tool.
