Northwind-Maestro PMS, provider of Maestro Enterprise Property Management hotel software and reservation software, celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2008. Northwind offers 20 Maestro modules to meet the specialized requirements of independent properties. Micros Systems offers a new Extensible Markup Language-based direct connection between Expedia and Micros’ “myfidelio. net” service, powered by its Opera Reservation System. The Micros and Expedia connection will handle directly contracted net rates. Myfiledio. net hotels and hotel group partners now can manage room inventory in an automated manner according to need. The connection to Expedia allows hotels to react quickly to changes in demand. QL2 Software partnered with Smith Travel Research to combine STR’s hotel performance data with QL2’s real-time pricing data. Products now will be offered to QL2 and STR clients, including STAR Reports comparing occupancy, average daily rate and revenue per available room; and QL2 PriceTrack, which provides a real-time snapshot of pricing and promotional activity. Salley, the company’s current c.o.o., will succeed Allen. The company’s Napery Fabrics Business also added Charles Young and Heidi Mitchell to its hospitality sales team. Young manages the Northeast territory and Mitchell manages the Central territory. Sealy promoted Joe Miller to director of contract sales. Miller is now responsible for sales and marketing for all domestic Sealy Contract sales. Maytag Commercial Laundry celebrated its 50th anniversary this year at the 50th Annual Commercial Laundry Meeting, held in Scottsdale, Ariz. Worktopia, provider of an online booking engine for meeting space in hotels, business centers and airport lounges, named Peter McElynn v.p.-corporate market development. eTelemetry launched Notify, a network appliance that manages guest Internet access speeds and provides hoteliers with the ability to market premium bandwidth tiers, corporate promotions and hotel services inside guests’ Web browsers. Guests receive targeted banner ads and premium Internet access. Multi-Systems announced a new partnership with d’Vinci Interactive to create Webbased training tools for the company’s Enterprise suite of products. Initial training tools will address front desk, reservations and management functions. Amadeus won three awards, including the World’s Leading Internet Booking Engine Technology Provider, the World’s Leading CRS/GDS System, and the World’s Leading Travel Technology Provider, at the 2007 World Travel Awards ceremony. Decolav was named a winner at the 2008 Kitchen & Bath Awards. The company’s Casaya 5605 Series won the honor in the bath cabinets category. S&D works with the Rainforest Alliance, an international nonprofit that works to protect ecosystems by changing land-use and business practices. S&D is adding 100-percent Colombian coffee to its list of Rainforest Alliance-certified coffees, which includes Rainforest Select, Rainforest Select Decaf and Rainforest Caramel Creme. The company’s Colombia trip was the second in a series of trips executives are making to experience the origin of its coffee beans.
