News Briefs WORLDHOTELS held its Americas region meeting in Baltimore at the Tremont Plaza, a member of the company’s First Class Collection. The company announced revenue of more than $300 million in 2007. W Hotels and luxury automaker Acura launched the Acura Experience, an exclusive livery service, which shuttles around guests of W Hotels in a 2008 Acura MDX. Many of the 18 North American W Hotel properties will feature an Acura Experience Desk where guests can book the service. At the meeting marking its fifth anniversary, Aimbridge Hospitality celebrated the opening of its 50th hotel. Revenue growth exceeded 50 percent last year. The first Crowne Plaza prototype created by InterContinental Hotel Group and Lane Hospitality opened in Milwaukee. The new design is intended to appeal to current and future Crowne Plaza franchisees looking to develop new-build Crowne Plaza hotels. Red Roof Inn celebrated its 35th anniversary in conjunction with the grand opening of its new headquarters in Columbus, Ohio. Red Roof announced it was returning to Columbus, where the company was founded, after its spinoff from Accor last year. InterContinental Hotels Group expanded its pipeline to more than 141,000 rooms (1,330 hotels) in the Americas region during 2007. The Staybridge Suites and Candlewood Suites brands contributed 24 percent of the rooms.
