Butter 4,968 Salmon 3,400 Beef ribs 2,220 Chicken 1,960 Mussels 1,310 Swimming toward an Olympic dream The Hilton Austin (Texas) and local swimmers in Austin continued with the multi-city Hilton Swim to Beijing Relay schedule of events. The relay was created in celebration of the U.S. Swim Team’s journey to the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, with relays across the country hosted by Hilton properties. The relay’s goal is 6,250 laps—the number of miles from Los Angeles to Beijing. Hilton made a donation of $10,000 to local learn-to-swim programs affiliated with the USA Swimming Foundation in each of the five participating cities and an additional $50,000 to The USA Swimming Foundation. Creating hope by building a home Delaware North Cos. participated in a Habitat for Humanity wall-raising ceremony as part of the continuing effort to rebuild New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. The event unveiled the framework for one of two houses Delaware North has sponsored and will assist in building, and it also introduced volunteers to the family that will live in the house. The company established Delaware North KARE (Katrina Associate Relief Effort) to assist affected employees with their immediate needs. HOMEWOOD SUITES HILTON GARDEN INN Unveiling area’s newest hotel To celebrate its grand opening, the Hilton Garden Inn San Diego/Del Mar held a ribboncutting ceremony with the mayor, council president and other local dignitaries. Quotable Field trip to the Ritz-Carlton Students at the Academy of Hospitality and Tourism learn from some of the best in the industry during the job shadowing series. Recently, students attended a job shadow event at The Ritz-Carlton New York in Central Park, where they were able to see the inner workings of the hotel industry.
