Best Western International opened the Best Western Plaza Inn & Suites in Lathrop, Calif. The hotel offers 81 guestrooms, including 25 suites, and meeting space for up to 108 people. Dalwinder Singh Dhoot owns the new hotel, which includes an indoor swimming pool, hot tub, 24-hour fitness center, guest laundry and a complimentary hot breakfast. Each room features a wet bar, refrigerator, 32-inch LCD flat-screen TV and wireless high-speed Internet access. The hotel is located near attractions such as Yosemite National Park, Dos Res Country Park and Caswell State Park. After a $15-million renovation, the 305-room DoubleTree Denver Tech Center now is welcoming guests to its landmark building, formerly known as the Hotel Denver Tech Center. The property, which opened in April, was renovated by Stonebridge Cos. Best Western International added the Best Western Brentwood Inn and Suites in Brentwood, Tenn., to its portfolio. Owned by AKAL Group, the hotel has 48 guestrooms, including 23 suites. Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide opened a Four Points by Sheraton in Tempe, Ariz., in late April. Owned and operated by Twenty4Seven Hotels Corp., the 187-room hotel recently underwent an eightmonth renovation. CREDIT ACQUISITIONS A joint venture of Davidson Hotel Co. and RockBridge Capital, LLC acquired the 234room Sheraton Hotel Iowa City, Iowa, from Ashford Hospitality Trust. Molinaro Koger facilitated the marketing and sale of the property. The property will retain the Sheraton flag and be managed by Davidson Hotel Co. Hampton Economic Development Corp. sold the Hampton Marina Hotel in Hampton, Va., to Hampton Hotel Associates, an affiliate of MHI Hospitality. The purchaser will invest more than $5 million to convert the property to a Crowne Plaza. Mumford Co. represented Hampton Economic Development. Lafayette Hotels’ Danny and Carla Lafayette purchased Nordic Village Luxury Mountain Getaways in Mount Washington Valley, N.H., from Wason Associates Hospitality Real Estate Brokerage Group. Owner/developer Robert Cyr sold the property for $13 million. Lafayette Hotels, based in Bangor, Maine, now has 25 resorts and franchise hotels in Maine, New Hampshire and Michigan. The Mumford Co. arranged the sale of the 92-room Holiday Inn Express of Statesboro, Ga. Following cosmetic renovations, the property will be repositioned to another brand in July. The Generation Cos. LLC acquired the 81-room extendedstay Staybridge Suites hotel in Round Rock, Texas. The hotel will undergo a $1-million renovation of guestrooms and common areas. GROUNDBREAKINGS Thayer Lodging Group and DoubleTree Palm Beach Gardens hotel broke ground on Florida’s first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design-certified executive meeting center, which is recognized by the International Association of Conference Centers and will feature a PURE allergen-free environment. Best Western International opened the 95-room Best Western Yucca Valley Hotel and Suites in Yucca Valley, Calif. Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide opened The Westin National Harbor in Prince George’s County, Md. The 195room hotel is part of the upscale National Harbor development, a 300-acre, waterfront lifestyle center. The property is owned by Brentwood National Harbor, LLC, and developed and managed by SREE Hotels, LLC. RockBridge Capital, LLC and First Hospitality Group opened a 145-room, five-story Hampton Inn & Suites in Columbus, Ohio. The hotel is a jointventure partnership between RockBridge and Continental Real Estate. First Hospitality Group will manage the hotel. Groundbreakings are under way for the newest additions to K Partners Hospitality Group’s portfolio: the 88-room Hampton Inn & Suites and 83room Fairfield Inn & Suites in Mansfield, Texas. The Hilton Washington DC/Rockville Hotel & Executive Meeting Center, formerly The DoubleTree Hotel, celebrated its opening and unveiled a multimillion dollar renovation on April 23. The hotel is owned by The JBG Cos. and managed by the Pyramid Hotel Group. A Microtel Inn & Suites opened near the Jacksonville, Fla., airport. The Jacksonville Airport Microtel is owned by JAX Lodging and principals Gregory and Kim Spatz of Pompano Beach, Fla. It is managed by SKY Hospitality of Palm Harbor, Fla. Fairfield Inn by Marriott Cleveland-Beachwood opened after a $13-million conversion. The 158-room property was acquired by Concord Hospitality Enterprises in July. Concord now manages the property.
